Fandom Snowflake Challenge (Day 2)

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

- Give me icon requests? I did these for Life on Mars ladies recently, and it reminded me how much I thoroughly enjoy the process. I don't mind which fandom, or no fandom, I'd just like the satisfaction of seeing someone use a thing I made while they are blogging. (Is that weird? There would of course be no obligation if you didn't like them that much, um.)

- Person of Interest Root/Shaw fic recs or meta, specifically those that deal with the stuff that went down in the second half of Season 4. I started a fic called For Sacrifice (spoilers) to try and fill in the gaps between episodes from Root's perspective, and then realised I just don't have a clue what to write. What is Root doing when she's offscreen? I'd love to read other fan theories on that, and hopefully get some inspiration for my own WIP too. (Doesn't have to be Season 5 compliant, although I don't mind spoilers on that front.)

- Short (< 30 mins) podfic recs. I was really into listening to podfic a couple of years ago and then I somehow lost my way. I'd like to get back into that if I can.

It would take longer, but I could figure out how to do it :D I know how to make gifs, it's just making that smaller hahaha. I'd really like the practice, to be honest.

Could you animate the sparkly eyes on the monster kid in the striped shirt in the top right-hand corner? If that's too much, then I'd like you to animate the two avatars in the bottom right-hand corner (the one of the dinosaur in glasses) so that it flips between the two. (I'm not sure what you'd call this. Also, you may want to change the backgrounds so they match.) Thank you very much, whatever you choose to do!

That said, I requested icons in my Day 2 post, if you've still got the time and inclination. [Robert/Sol (Grace and Frankie), Peter/Chris (Teen Wolf), Ragnar/Athelstan (Vikings), Hansel (or Hansel & Gretel) (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters), or TJ (Political Animals).]

Full disclosure, someone else has offered to make me some, and I've found some Hansel & Gretel and Political Animals screencaps to send her. Grace and Frankie is a lot harder because it was a Netflix show and it is really difficult to find screencaps, though I have found a very few and some GIFs. Is it possible to create an icon (not necessarily an animated one) from an existing GIF?

Yeah, so I cheated a bit? But I really, *really* enjoy making them. :P

Yes, I should think so! I can import the gif, load the frames and then resize them. Or select just one if you'd like a still icon.

Teen Wolf is the only show on that list I'm familiar with, and it sounds like the only one you don't already have people working on, so can I do that? :D

That would be lovely, thank you! I haven't found any Peter/Chris icons. (There have been some interesting Ian/JR tweeted photos - that i saw on Tumblr - if you wanted to use those as well or instead. They make it so easy to slash their characters. *g*)

If I were the kind of person to leave plot bunnies and run, I would say that it's quite likely that Root is being run on errands for The Machine. Many of them seem like make work or otherwise unrelated plots, much to the aggravation of Root, who has several instances where she threatens to just go find Shaw, with or without The Machine, only for this particular mission to turn out to have been somewhere that Shaw was, and a pointer in the direction of where they went next. The Machine is trying to protect a great asset from getting killed and setting back its plans, Root is trying to get The Machine to just tell her where Shaw is. At some point, Root realizes that Shaw just might be someone she would give up The Machine for. And that's when the Machine is finally ready to let Root go see Shaw...
