Doctor Who drabble

I wrote this ages ago.  I really like it, even though it makes me sad.

Summary: I wish I could see you, just once more.

I wish I could feel you. I wish I could say I knew you were standing on the other side of this wall, your hand over my hand, your cheek next to my cheek. But this wall is cold and white and unforgiving, and that’s not you at all. If you were here the wall would be flushed with every colour imaginable, swirls of bright, vibrant yellows, sweet pinks, passionate reds and lively purples. Not all this white. This sickeningly clean, sterile, simply dead stretch of plasterboard.

 

I wish I could see you, just once more. I wish I could carve a window in this endless barrier, open it wide and pull you back into my arms where you belong, where you said you wanted to be. It’s selfish; I tell myself time and time again that you are with your family; you’ll start again, where you’re meant to be. But just this once, I think I have the right to be selfish. I think I have the right – just for one moment – to think not about what is good for the universe, but what is good for me.
