Well, last but one tonight! I’m so excited about this ep. About the Galex (yes I have my reservations but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it), about what we find out about Sam, about seeing Gene on my telly for one final story. I am likely to get even more emotional this week and next week because I am a sappy sod. :P

 

I wonder how they’re going to end this ep, how unbearable the cliffhanger is going to be. I can’t wait to once again be in the hyped-up, out-of-this-world feeling that watching S3 Ashes gives me. (Yes, it is my drug. Shut up. :P)

 

It’s going to take me forever to write my post again but I don’t want to start leaving stuff out just for the sake of time. Hope I don’t annoy people too much with it and you can just ignore it if you can’t be bothered with the tl;dr.

Okay, so it’s taken me a week to get back to this. :P Had a bit of a computer breakdown after the ep last week and various things stopped me from opening this document again until now.

 

I’m still going to use my notes to do a minute-by-minute thing again, there probably won’t be as many additions/explanations/musings as I’m going along so it might even be shorter!

 

Anyway, here goes:

 

-          Before we even start the ep, the announcer says something about this being the end of an era. :( (Note from one week in the future: On Monday after my French exam I went and bought the Radio Times and read Alison Graham’s article ‘Don’t leave me this way’. Man, I’m going to miss him so hard. I don’t think I’ve properly realised this is the end yet. Once it hits me, I shall be a gibbering wreck.)

-          Pre-title sequence: Stars. I know what you did, three years ago.

-          More stars. Abide With Me.

-          Camera flicks to Gene, Keats, singing. Helmet on the coffin.

-          Something’s wrong. The coffin won’t go. (One week later: Zombies? XD)

-          Gene pulling the curtains. Sorry Viv.

-          Why is Chris laughing?

-          Photo. (One week later: IDK what photo anymore. :P)

-          Gene says something about being /evicted/ from Manchester. Viv “said he’d look after me.” Oh, Gene. <3

-          Don’t blame yourself. Nobody’s fault. Chris spills drink.

-          Gene erupts in a tirade against Chris. Clumsy bastard. Respect. (Woah, Gene. D:)

-          Where’s Bolly? (And already the Galex begins.)

-          Keats. What’s he doing in Gene’s office. Alex at her desk. Lucky one. Your bullet didn’t kill you. Accident.

-          Ghost. Find it. Guv’s office. He’s slippery.

-          He’s a killer. Get it developed. I’ll do it, says Keats. :O NOO.

-          Not the same. Do what put here to do.

-          Get me Gene Hunt. (Gene/Keats subtext. HAHA.) Poor Alex.

-     Titles. <3 I love this show. (One week later: I had the same reaction every time I watched Mars eps as they aired live too. The title sequence was a moment to reflect and say ‘I fucking love that I’m watching this right now.’ Tonight will be the last ever time I can do that.)

-          Gene looks out of his window. (Reminder of end of Ep1). Sad. Blinds. How is he? Blames himself. (Owwwie. Geeeeene. <333)

-          Alex is doing some digging on the epaulette numbers. Please, Ray.

-          Whistle. Chris jumps up. “What the hell are you doing?”

-          Seemingly out of nowhere, Ray mentions vol-au-vents. I have a little squee moment because it reminds me of the ‘like a pie, then?’ convo from LoM 2x04.

-          Meanwhile, Gene is angsting. “Bugger off, I’m grieving. I miss my pal.” <3 <3 <3 (One week later: I know I wasn’t the only one to think ‘my pal’ could have been Sam and/or Viv. Either way I bloody love Gene here.)

-          Revival of caretaker. In other ways. You and I. Spit it out, Bols. (I feel a Galex moment coming on, lol.)

-          “Let’s have dinner.” (See? I’m physic. Well, no I’m not. I’m just a time traveller returning to last week. :P Or maybe I’m just mad.) Why? Date. Alex says something about more opportunities which has me questioning her motives like whoa.

-          Better warn you, Bolly. First date. Upstairs outside only. Gene is such a gentleman. XD <33333

-          Splinter some skulls for Viv. LOL.

-          “How touched he would be.” <3 Alex.

-          Music. Keats. Package. 3 tapes. Smile.

-          Chris. Skelton. Prick. (Gene? D:)

-          WTF Gene.

-          Ray finds blood. Body in cupboard. I love Ray taking the lead at a crime scene. We’d never have seen that in Mars.

-          “You need to stand up for yourself, Chris.” <3 Shaz.

-          Chris. Keats. Other Guv. :(

-          Report is almost done.

-          He’s got nothing. Big juicy collar.

-          “Peace and bastard quiet!” <33333

-          Nab ourselves a terrorist. Keats pipe.

-          Not stupid. Think you killed him.

-          1000 years. Classic. :((((( Chris!

-          <3 Alex. Interview.

-          Ray and Chris singing. Reenactment.

-          Gene doors. Stonewallers. More gay ref.

-          …..Shwaddywaddy whatever. !!!! <333333333333333333333333333333333 GENE :DDDDDDDDDD

-          The plonk. Shaz reminds she’s been promised promotion. (Oooh, series continuity! XD I’m impressed!) Uncle Gene.

-          Chris stand up to guv. Labrador to a Rottweiler.

-          Change. Not Chris. Shaz & Ray = <3

-          Holding Chris back. Blockage LOL.

-          Denile. River in Egypt. <3 <3 Ray

-          For your struggle. Debating society. LOL <3

-          Conversational vacuum. LOL Alex.

-          7 years time. Mandela.

-          I don’t care. Plug you into the mains. Gene! :(

-          Stand up. Take yer dress off. :O :O :O What?

-          Blood on dress. Oh.

-          Police woman. Speak to her.

-          What are you up to?

-          Speak English. I did it. I killed him. I don’t believe you.

-          Ray, my office. This little lot.

-          Sprat. Mackerel. Final chapter. Is Alex…?

-          Fighting for our lives.

-          Report. Laughing. Ray and Shaz. Alright. Okay I’m here. (One of the preview clips.)

-          Chris is angry. (What’s going on?) Nutters, you deserve each other. Chris! Poor Shaz.

-          Give it a rest Bolly. Chris. Bye bye.

-          “What about the truth?” “Oh, grow up.” (One week later: Interesting Gene/Alex exchange here. I want to read tons into this and go on and on about what it could mean. But my prevailing thought was: Sam always wanted the truth and you never told him to grow up, Gene.)

-          Promise. In your dreams.

-          Special Branch. Keats paces.

-          Alex future talk. (I see she’s remembered she’s from the future now. :P That’s…convenient. Did I mention continuity earlier? Yeah, well ya just lost brownie points there, writers. XD)

-          Request form. Gene <3 By the book. APR13. <333333 OMG, he sounds EXACTLY like Sam. <3 (That, for me, is a major Sam/Gene moment. Gene even using Sam’s words ‘by the book’.

-          Last chapter, eh, Jim?

-          Yet. Smoking gun.

-          Fire in Manchester. Records destroyed. (Oooh, spooky.)

-          Chris. Cells. No form, you dozy mare.

-          Gene asks which way Alex’s bra opens. You will never, ever, ever, EVER know, Guv. <333 (I love Alex so freaking much. She leaves him standing there like a lost puppy, lol. Awww. <3)

-          “Do you ever get the feeling that everything is falling apart?” Things will never be the same. Oh, Chris <3

-          Just a minute. Alex gets called away. Very conveniently distracting her. Are Keats and Chris planning something?
