Having said that, I'm a little apprehensive because I've got this creeping feeling of 'nothing's gonna be the same again', you know?

ARGHHHH I'm not even gonna be able to watch this until FRIDAY. >:( I HATE LIFE. I'm trying to finish a fic before S3 starts but it's nearly 1am my time zone and I need sleep and this fic is nowhere near finished, so... Um. Maybe not. ):

I used to be like that when I first got into the fandom. I was all into ships/fanfic/videos/etc and then I got into Doctor Who/Torchwood and got addicted.

I'm still sort of a part of the HP fandom but I stay away from the drama and ship wars,which I have to say are the worst parts of any fandom.

No, I literally never talked about anything else. I would find a way to reference it in any conversation and if one of my friends showed even the slightest bit of interest I'd talk their ear off for several hours. :P (And if my tendency to write really long rambling comments is any indication, I don't think I've stopped! XD Sorry.)

then I got into Doctor Who/Torchwood Hee. You followed the same path as me! :)

I wasn't really into many ships with HP, wasn't particularly interested in the ones JK made canon, and I avoided the shipwars like the plague.

Unfortunately no fandom is immune to wars, it seems. (Which is actually one of the reasons why I love Life on Mars so much. While there's a gross imbalance when it comes to how much fic gets written for Sam/Annie and Sam/Gene, I've never seen a ship war between their supporters, not on LJ, at least.)

I pretty much stopped following HP fandom after a good deal of people went up in arms about the epilogue to DH and it shocked me how easily fandom seemed to turn on JKR and say how much they hated her. I still read the books and watch the films though, but admittedly I don't get round to it often when I'm doing exams/coursework and/or following Who and TW.

Yeah, I get what you mean. As a writer, I really loved how JKR fleshed out her characters and developed them over the series.

It's okay! I have a tendency to write long comments myself so I understand.

I agree about the LoM fandom too, it's a really happy place to be. I love both Sam/Annie and Sam/Gene myself and I'm so happy to find fic for both.

I kinda wish the TW/DW fandoms would change into that but I think it's always going to be what it is.
I'm just happy to find sane TW/DW fans like you to remind me that they still exist in fandom.
